Practitioners will have a clear understanding of animal health and welfare legislation including the five requirements of a suitable environment, suitable diet, exhibiting normal behaviour patterns, housed with or apart from other animals as applicable and protection from pain, injury, suffering and disease. They will need to be able to demonstrate expertise and awareness in undertaking their regulatory duties to ensure legislative compliance. They need to be able to have an awareness of animal health issues and the requirements when animals are being transported.
